Once installed, a Connected Car Device [CCD] will read the exact fuel level in your vehicle.
For payment processing, this exact fuel reading is rounded to the nearest 1/16th.
Dealerware uses fractional rounding as a fair way to make sure your customers are not charged for fuel every time they return due to the fact that:
- Depending on make and model, certain gas tanks will never be 100% full due to their design.
- Even if a customer refills the tank right before returning the vehicle, it will lose a small amount of fuel by having the engine on.
Dealerware is Showing 15/16 for a Vehicle with a Full Tank
If a vehicle's internal display shows a full fuel level but Dealerware displays 15/16, this is likely due to a combination of the two factors above being strong enough to round down to 15/16 instead of up to 16/16.
In these rare cases, we recommend following your dealership's service expectations and if needed use the Charge Later option to remove the fuel charge. To learn more about this go here.
