Top Questions and Answers from the Webinar
Will the Credit Card Hold ensure that we can charge the customer's card later?
Yes! Use the Credit Card Hold function to authorize payment on the customer's card in the amount of an estimated charge or security deposit when a contract is started. This will ensure that the customer’s credit card can be charged for the authorized amount at the contract close. Please be aware that payment methods have varying pre-authorization time limits which may hinder the payment from being successfully charged at contract close.
How can we clear unsettled balances that can not be collected?
It is highly recommended that dealerships manage unsettled balances on a daily basis to avoid accumulating balances that cannot be collected. However, if a balance can no longer be collected, dealerships can credit the customer in Dealerware Web for the amount of the unsettled balance to clear out the balance.
Will a customer’s account be flagged if they have an unsettled balance and attempt to start a new contract?
No, customer profiles will not be flagged if the customer has an unsettled balance. Dealerships can create and start a contract for a customer even if they have an unsettled balance. To avoid starting a contract for a customer that has an unsettled balance, it is recommended that dealerships manage their unsettled balances on a daily basis.
In the event that a client tampers with a CCD in a vehicle, is there a way to automate a charge for this?
No, there is currently no way to automate a charge for incidentals such as CCD damage. However, incidentals can be charged in Dealerware Web after the contract has closed. It is also recommended that dealerships add an Agreement Summary stating that indicates customers will be charged for tampering with CCDs, so customers are aware of a potential charge prior to contract start.
